The new nose

DSC00724 DSC00722 Surgery went well.  While they were setting things back in place they discovered that I had injured my septum, so they fixed that while they were in there also.  What some people have told me is true, that putting everything back in place is actually more painfull than the break itself!  Here are some pictures you can laugh at my expense.  No those aren't nose hairs taped to the side of my face they are pieces of thread connected to gauze stuffed way up inside.

Update

Scott's surgery is set for tomorrow (Thurs) at 10:45 a.m.  Thank you for your prayers!  We appreciate them.

Can you believe that he asked me if he could play softball again by May 18th?  I think that I might have to punch him in the nose!!!!  Another thing, can you believe he hasn't called his mother yet to let her know that he was even injured?

Nose Job

DSC00706 (last night after er)

This is Scott after playing in our first church softball game of the season.  Ball -1, Scott- 0  Needless to say the ball one.  Actually, the story goes something like this:  Scott was coaching 3rd base.  Someone from our team was up to bat.  There was a man on first and second with no outs.  The batter hit the ball to shortstop and and ss threw the ball to 3rd base for the force.  The 3rd baseman missed the throw and hit Scott almost right dead center  on the nose.  We waited for an ambulance (Scott's first ride) to come because he was out of it but he didn't lose consciousness.  Then we were in the er for a couple of hours.  The er doc said his nose is in pieces on the inside and it was an open fracture.  We will be seeing a ear-nose-throat sometime later this week.  He will have to have surgery to reconstruct his nose.  If you have any suggestions on a style of new nose, now is the time to share!   The er doc said it was the worst broken nose he has ever seen. You can see how disformed his nose is in this picture.   I am keeping him loopy on pain medication.  I am thankful that it didn't hit him in the eye. Praise!

Just wanted to share with you that Leah accepted Jesus as her Savior this week.  We are all so excited about her decision.  We were reading a Bible book and she started asking me questions.  She knew the answers to the questions that I was asking her.   Then she prayed with me and asked Jesus into her heart.
